After Finishing Finals I have a Week to Spare before Graduating…

GoPro has an annual Athlete Summit in which they fly the entire team out to an incredible location to bond while being active outdoors, sharing our sports like surfing, mountain biking, kayaking, climbing, diving… Etc. This year GoPro has chosen the Gold Coast in Australia.

While it is an incredibly short time period to fly so far for, the experience sounded worth it.

So, on Friday I handed in the last academic assignment of my undergraduate career as a Columbia University Student. Then, Saturday, I flew out to Denver for the American Alpine Club event with Adidas. I went to Earth Treks in Golden afterwards, and then made my way back to the airport to continue my journey to Australia.

While in Denver, my flight to San Francisco was delayed, so I missed my connecting flight from San Francisco to Sydney. Unfortunately there is only one flight each evening from SF to Sydney on United, so I had a 24 hour delay in SF. Fortunately, this meant I got to have a pleasant day in the Bay Area before flying onwards to my final destination for my… Even shorter… Trip in Australia!

I went to Planet Granite in downtown San Francisco which is an immaculate facility with really great setting. I love how with climbing, you can travel around the world and always have a community in whichever city you go to. The fact that there are climbing gyms popping up in abundance globally, too, it makes it easy to maintain fitness while traveling. For me, I have had a back injury for the last 5 weeks and I am really motivated to get back in shape now, so this has been really important.

Now, I am headed to the airport where I will fly from San Francisco to Australia. I only have 3 days in Australia but I’m really looking forward to hanging out with the team and partaking in the active agenda that GoPro has set for us. The first thing that I am doing when I arrive is going Sky Diving with 60 Minutes and JT Holmes, Roberta Mancino, Marshall Miller, and Jesse Hall!

Fingers crossed for no more travel delays… Off to the airport once again to make my way to Aussie land! This time… No homework on the plane. Hooray! Stay tuned!
